Bruised & Broken

Have you ever felt broken?  Do you possess a few bruises and scars from the pains of life?  Have you sometimes been beat down by circumstances, others, or just the rat-race of life?  Life on planet earth has a way of doing that.  Our world is broken and fallen.  We feel the effects of this brokenness most every day.  People get sick.  Jobs don’t work out.  Relationships break apart.  Loved-ones die.  My back hurts.  Our bodies give out.  A friend betrays us.  My marriage is on the rocks.  Sometimes, I feel like a failure.

Yet, into the midst of the brokenness of our humanity, Jesus offers hope.  God is close to the brokenhearted.  Forgiveness is available.  Second chances are offered.  A fresh start is possible.  Perhaps no biblical character exhibits this more than Simon Peter.  Our passage this Sunday records a time when Peter was deeply broken.  He had just denied Jesus three times, even as he vowed never to do so.  He felt like he had committed the unforgiveable sin.  Yet, there was grace.  There was good news.  There is God.

Join us this Sunday as we “unpack” the story of Peter’s denials from Mark 14:66-72.  We’ll consider our own brokenness and tendency to fail Jesus.  But we’ll also find grace and hope in forgiveness and second chances.  If you’ve ever felt down, exhausted with life, frustrated with relationships, distant from God, and even like a failure at times, this message is just for you.  Through a few dramatic and even humorous vignettes along with solid biblical teaching, God’s Word will refresh and renew your life this Sunday!

Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature the same biblical message, heart-felt worship, welcoming friends, and the healing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  A Nursery is provided along with Busy Bags for children who remain in the sanctuary.  Refreshments will be served between services in our Fellowship Hall.  Please forward this email to invite a friend or family member, prepare your heart for an encounter with God, and plan to join us!
