Breaking Free in ‘23
Have you ever been stuck? I’ve been stuck in the snow a few times. I’ve also gotten our Farmall M tractor stuck when I was in high school while plowing a field. My brother got his head stuck in the rails of his crib once. Mom had to call the neighbor guy to come over with a saw to free him. Thankfully, he cut the crib rails and not his head off!
The truth is: We’re all stuck sometimes. Not physically in a snow drift or a muddy field. Not in between the rails of a crib. We tend to get stuck emotionally, relationally, mentally, or spiritually. It could be a bad habit, a past hurt, or a hang-up we have with someone. It might be a grudge, grief, guilt, or shame that weighs us down. Perhaps it’s a particular sin, addiction, or stronghold that holds us back. We may not get stuck physically, but our lives often fall short, stagnant, stale, and trend toward status quo.
Yet the Bible says: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1). As we begin this New Year, I encourage you to break free in ’23! Join us Sunday as we consider the story of Peter being set free from prison and discover parallels for our own lives today. Together, we’ll identify seven key components to your getting free in ’23. It’s time to give up those bad habits, break those negative mindsets, find fresh faith, and move forward into the abundant life Jesus came to give you!
Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM. Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services feature the same inspiring message, lively worship, warm friends, and the revitalizing power of the Holy Spirit in our midst. A nursery space and Busy Bags are available for children. And, we’ll also ordain and install our new deacon and elder. It’s going to be Spirit-filled Sunday at Grace Church and I hope you and your loved ones will join us. I look forward to seeing you again after my time away. Let’s be refreshed!
