Growing Big
Have you ever visited the Iowa State Fair down in Des Moines? I have gone many times. I enjoy viewing the exhibits, seeing the butter cow, watching a bit of the Talent Show, and of course, getting something to eat from local vendors! But as a farm boy, I especially enjoy visiting the livestock barns and seeing the produce contained in the Ag Building. I’m always amazed at the size of those pumpkins! How do they grow them so big? They start out the size of a golf ball and end up the size of a mini cooper!
While I don’t know much about growing large, award-winning pumpkins, I do know that one of the keys is for that pumpkin to stay connected to the vine. In fact, the pumpkin itself really doesn’t do any work. It just remains connected to it’s vine. Over time, it develops into a huge ripened fruit. Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). The same principle applies to spiritual growth & “living large” for God!
This Sunday, May 14, we conclude our Supernatural Living sermon series with my message, “Living More Victoriously.” We’ve heard some great teaching and learned some good theological truths. But how do we now put it together and live it out in practical ways? In other words, how can we “grow big” and live the supernatural life more abundantly? Join us Sunday to learn three practical things everyone can do to live their lives on a higher plain and transcend the craziness and chaos of this world. Please join us!
