Holy Week Begins

Imagine someone really important coming to visit your town!  Maybe it’s your favorite singer or band making an appearance at the Gallager-Bluedorn.  Maybe it’s your favorite monster truck coming to the Hippodrome.  Maybe it’s a presidential candidate making a speech at the Five Sullivan Brothers’ Center.  Maybe it’s Taylor Swift stopping at the UNI Dome for her Eras Tour.  Maybe it’s your mother paying you a visit!  Would you be excited?  Would you be nervous?  Would you make plans?

This Sunday we travel back in time to welcome a special guest into “our town.”  Jesus himself is visiting Jerusalem!  There will be parades, fan-fare, adoring crowds, children singing, and loud praises.  It’s going to be a great day.  But the mood is about to change very quickly.  No sooner had people welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem and they wanted to see him leave.  In over-turning the tables in the temple, religious leaders were furious.  Fans turned into foes.  The sad events of Holy Week began.

Grace Church welcomes you and your loved ones this Palm Sunday morning as we remember Jesus’ arrival into Jerusalem but then quickly turn our attention to what happens next.  “Jesus’ Dead End” is a message that will challenge and encourage you at the same time.  Mark acts as “coroner” to declare Jesus dead and buried on Good Friday.  What does Jesus’ death mean for you?  How can we find hope in such a tragic turn of events?  Join us for this most important and inspiring message!

Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature the same biblical message, heart-felt worship, welcoming friends, and the healing power of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  A special gift will be handed to everyone as you enter the sanctuary this Sunday.  A nursery space and Busy Bags are available to children.  Refreshments will be provided for all between services.  Visitors are welcome.  Newcomers expected.  Let’s welcome Jesus!
