A Marvelous Word Picture

Did you have a favorite teacher in school?  My fourth grade teacher, Mr. Stegemann, was one of mine.  He taught with knowledge, clarity, and kindness.  He used illustrations which helped students remember things.  But really, there is no greater teacher in the world than Jesus Christ.  He taught with love, passion, authority, illustrations, and parables.  His impact on the world is still felt and making a difference today.  Jesus is now my favorite teacher.  Maybe he is yours too.

Jesus’ teaching included two marvelous “word pictures” to illustrate important truths.  One is the sacrament of baptism which uses water to symbolize the washing away of our sins.  The second word picture is the sacrament of The Lord’s Supper in which we physically ingest bread and juice to symbolize the fact that Jesus is now living in the lives of those who believe and receive him.  What an amazing truth illustrated so marvelously by this second word picture: Jesus Christ living in us!

We continue our Journey to the Cross sermon series this Sunday by considering one of the most re-enacted scenes of Jesus’ life.  Join us as we take a deeper look at the Lord’s Supper as found in Mark 14:12-26.  We will identify three gifts from God which followers of Jesus can expect to receive.  These three gifts can change your life and give you hope.  For anyone feeling lost, alone, discouraged, or overwhelmed with life, this message is for you and will surely lift your spirits.

Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature the same biblical teaching, heart-felt worship, warm and welcoming friends, and the renewing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  A nursery will be provided for children and refreshments for all will be served between services.  Sign-up sheets are also out for “The Chosen” Season Two small groups, our upcoming Men’s Retreat, and our “Journey to Jerusalem” Easter drama.

It’s going to be a Spirit-filled Sunday at Grace Church.  I sincerely hope you and your loved ones will be present.  Please reach out and invite someone to join us!
