Are You Lonely?
Many people look forward to Christmas with great joy and anticipation. But for others, the holiday season brings a very different reality – intense feelings of loneliness. While families and friends are gathering for meals and parties, some of us remain alone on the sidelines. While children may be coming home for Christmas in some households, other homes remain quiet. If you are a widow or widower, a shut-in, or simply single, you know what I’m talking about. ‘Tis the season for loneliness.
The Good News is that God stands with the lonely and adopts us into a new family. In fact, Jesus’ first and second comings usher in a new day, a new Kingdom in which loneliness shall be wiped away. Please join your family and friends at Grace Church this Sunday as we continue our Advent sermon series with the message, “Hope for the Lonely.” This message will highlight four great reasons believers have may hope, even in times of loneliness. If you ever wrestle with loneliness this message is for you!
We will meet for one combined service of worship beginning at 10:00 AM this Sunday, featuring the lighting of two candles on our Advent wreath and the singing of some of our favorite Christmas carols. A nursery and Busy Bags are provided for children. There will be no refreshments served as we’ll roll right into our annual congregational meeting following worship. All members are asked to be present. Please join us as we come together to overcome loneliness, worship, and celebrate what God has done!
Together in Jesus,
Pastor Dave Van Netten
