Drawing Closer

What helps you draw close to God?  Is it music, nature, friends, drama, art, silence, a sermon, or the written word?  Seems everybody has a different method or medium in which they best encounter and experience God.  Thankfully, God can be discovered in many and various ways.  In fact, Psalm 19:1 says: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”  God can be found not just in church on Sunday morning, but all through the week in nature, art, people, sunsets, and mountains.

This Sunday, we have the privilege of experiencing God through art.  Just look around you.  Whether it’s in the beauty of Iowa’s landscape, or the brilliant colors of a sunrise or sunset – our God is a creative God.  We may be used to hearing God speak to us through a sermon, but God is also quite capable of speaking to us through art and picture.  Join us this Sunday, June 5, as we welcome nationally acclaimed chalk artist, Randy Davis, into our midst from Drawing Closer Ministries.  And, experience God through art!

Randy comes to us all the way from Branson, Missouri and will share a teaching followed by a beautiful live chalk drawing with a hidden special drawing within to be revealed at the end of his presentation.  His message is biblical and his drawing is stunning.  Free-will donations for his ministry will be received as this is Randy’s full-time ministry.   Our service begins at 10:00 AM.  A nursery space is available for little ones.  Refreshments will be served following.  Please plan to join us and bring your family and friends!

Other special weekend events include:  1) “Fellowship & Fun Night” for all at the Youth House beginning at 5:30 PM Friday evening.  Bring a side dish if you can; yard games available.  2) Men’s Breakfast beginning at 9:00 AM Saturday in our Fellowship Hall.  A delicious breakfast provided followed by some “spiritual food” from Karl Bultsma.  And, 3) Our “Women of Joy” Bible study will meet at the Youth House again also Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM.  Please join us as you have interest and are able.  All are welcome!
