Fat & Happy

This cat reminds me of me yesterday afternoon, having gorged myself with turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, jellied cranberries, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream!  Maybe you can relate?  I trust you had a blessed Thanksgiving and also got plenty to eat.  If you’re like me, you probably over ate and needed a nap like this fat cat after the meal.  Praise God for His abundance and blessing in our lives.  Time to get some exercise today!

Against the backdrop of Thanksgiving abundance, we begin the season of Advent this Sunday, November 28, with a new sermon series entitled Waiting for God.  Advent is a time of waiting, preparing, and anticipating the coming of God into this troubled world and our broken lives through the person of Jesus.  This week, we consider waiting for God In Surplus.  What does it mean to wait for God when you already have a life that is full?  How does the gospel relate to those who feel no need for Jesus?

Sunday’s message will highlight three things required for all persons – rich and poor – to admit their need for and find deep satisfaction in Jesus Christ.  Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM and contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  We will also light the first candle on our Advent wreath as we begin to anticipate the coming of Christ at Christmas.  A nursery space is provided for children.  Refreshments will be served between services in our newly refloored Fellowship Hall.

It’s going to be a Spirit-filled Sunday at Grace Church!  And I sincerely hope to see you and your loved ones.  Feel free to reach out and invite a friend.  For God is alive and working through Grace Church, healing hearts and renewing lives.  Our elders will also meet with prospective new members between services in the adult education room.  Those who’ve completed the Discovery Class are welcome to join them.  May God be glorified as we gather to praise Him this Sunday morning!
