God is Good!

One of my great joys in having been pastor of the Grace Church for more than 24 years now, is watching our children and youth grow-up into young men and women for God.  It’s fun and sometimes surprising to see the path that our youth choose for themselves – or should I say, that God chooses for them.  One thing is sure, however; God never stops working in our lives.  As we open our hearts and lives to Him, God’s plans are always good and always unfolding.  Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us of that.

This Sunday we have the opportunity to celebrate God’s working in one of our own – a young woman of our congregation who is growing up to follow God.  In lieu of a typical sermon by me, we will invite Jessica Smith, daughter of Stu & Rhonda Smith, to share about her life as a young Marine, having gone through Boot Camp, special schooling, two years in Germany and six months in South Korea.  Jessica is now a Corporal in the Marines and on “home leave” for the month of October.

Join us as we celebrate God’s working in Jessica’s life and hear how God has lead, surrounded, and sustained Jessica in her life as a young Marine.  Jessica will be interviewed by me at both services; she will share a few slides with us as well.  Come, be inspired by Jessica’s sharing.  Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  And a nursery space is available.  Don’t miss this special service as we honor and celebrate God’s goodness in Jessica’s life!

We will also share a meal together this Sunday noon to which everyone is invited.  The meal is free in honor of Jessica and provided by family and friends of Jessica for our entire church family.  I’m not sure about all the menu, but I hear that pulled pork sandwiches along with some delicious sides and a dessert will be had.  People are free to linger and visit with Jessica and/or play table games as you wish.  It’s going to be another great Sunday at Grace Church.  Please join us with your loved ones!
