Grace for the Journey
Where are you going? Or, more pointedly: What is the direction of your life these days? Are you moving along on a positive trajectory? Or might you be “losing altitude?” If you consider where you were 5, 10, 15, or 20 years ago, how do you compare that to where you are now? If you keep trending in the same direction, what might your future look like in another 5,10, 15, or 20 years? If you plotted the key points of your life on a graph, would the line of your life be going up or down?
Truth is: All our lives are headed somewhere! We’re all on a trajectory of one kind or another. We’re all on a journey. Life moves us forward whether we want it to or not. We all want our lives to be moving forward positively. We’d like to say that our future will be better than our past. But that may or may not be the case. Not everyone’s life moves in a good direction. Let’s face it: There are times when we make poor decisions, bad things happen, sin gets in the way, and we run out of gas.
But I write this “Pastor’s Preview” not to discourage you. But rather to let you know that thankfully, there’s grace for the journey. One of my favorite Bible verses is Philippians 1:6 in which Paul says: “I am confident of this, that God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.” God will eventually get us to where we need to be. God will get you to where you need to be. There is grace, healing, forgiveness, and renewal for the journey ahead!
Join us this Sunday, October 16 as we explore this theme more deeply based on a story of Jesus healing a blind man recorded in Mark 8:22-26. Our lives are yet incomplete and often unclear. We haven’t arrived yet. But thankfully, Jesus gives “second touches” to those of us who need them! Perhaps you need a second touch of grace, healing, forgiveness, cleansing, insight, revelation, or understanding from God? Sunday’s message will open your life up to receiving a second touch from God!
Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM. Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services feature heart-felt worship, an inspiring biblical message, warm friends, and the healing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst. The Discovery Class for inquirers meets at 10:05 AM between services. Refreshments for all will also be served between services. And a nursery space is provided for infants and toddlers. It’s going to be another great Sunday at Grace Church. Please join us with family & friends!
