God’s Got This!

I’ve never been bungy jumping, nor do I have the desire to do so.  I simply cannot imagine jumping and free-falling hundreds and hundreds feet, trusting on a giant rubber band to keep me from breaking my neck on the rocks below.  But then again, I am Dutch, conversative, and reserved by nature.  There are, however, many people who have bungy jumped and report that it was one of the biggest thrills of their lives.  Perhaps you are one of them.  If so, good for you.  As for me, I’ll keep my feet on terra firma!

Bungy jumping does raise an interesting question, though.  Who or what do you place your trust in?  As Christians, we are quick to say that our trust and faith are in our Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.  We believe God is orchestrating our lives.  And because God is good; He can be trusted.  That sounds right theologically.  We know we should trust God.  But do we really?  When times are tough or bad things happen, do we – would we – still trust in God?  Can God be trusted even in times of pain and loss?

Thankfully, God is not a bungy cord.  He can absolutely be trusted, and he will never break.  Why?  Because Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords – something which we’ll celebrate this coming “Christ the King” Sunday at Grace Church.  Jesus holds your life in his hands - the good days, the bad days, the terrific times, and the trying times.  He is the God of all our days.  This is worth celebrating.  And that’s exactly what we are going to do this coming Sunday at Grace Church.  Please plan now to join us!

Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services will feature my message, “A Good King,” highlighting three good-news reasons why Jesus as King is an absolutely wonderful thing.  So, join us for an inspiring message, heart-felt worship, friendship, and even some good snacks between the services.  But most importantly, join us to allow the renewing presence of God’s Holy Spirit to work a miracle of healing in your life.  God is calling you.  Will you be there?
