What Everybody Needs
It has been said that our deepest human need is twofold: To be loved and to give love. That pretty much sums up the human condition. There’s not a person on the planet who does not need love. We long for it, sing about it, write poems about it, do crazy things for it. Everyone wants to know they are valued, have meaning, and important to someone else. Furthermore, we have a need to give love. It may not be quite as obvious, but deep down we also want to share love and contribute meaningfully to others.
God knows about these deep human needs. They are no surprise to Him. In fact, God is the one who created us this way. And, despite the loneliness and isolationism that often plagues our lives in this impersonal world, God is still creating a community of loving people to meet our deep human needs. It may surprise you, but that community is called Church! The church is not always what it should be. For it is still made up of imperfect people. Yet, the Church is God’s design for us to be loved and to give love.
Perhaps you feel unloved today. Maybe you feel alone and isolated from others. Perhaps some friendships didn’t work out the way you wanted. Maybe your marriage ended in divorce. Or, you eat alone in the lunchroom at school. The Good News is that Jesus loves you and invites you into His new community the church, even Grace Church. This Sunday, we’ll look at a prayer of Jesus in which he articulates three deep desires for all believers, the Church. What are they? How can we live into them at Grace Church?
Join us at Grace Church this Sunday to know and feel the love of God personally. Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM and contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services feature the same biblical message entitled, “Jesus’ Prayer for Us,” heart-felt worship, welcoming friends, and the Spirit’s healing presence in our midst. A nursery is provided along with Busy Bags for children. Refreshments will be served between services. And Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are due. Please join us and be loved!
