Lost
Have you ever been lost? When I was a camp counselor at Cran-Hill Ranch Youth Camp in Rodney, Michigan back in the summer of 1986, my buddies and I took a walk to Turtle Mountain after a Sunday evening supper. We set out on a dusty, dirt path lined by the tall pines and trees of the Manistee Forest. It was a long hike, but we made it. Once the sun set, we set out to return to the lodge. But darkness fell quickly. The trails looked different. We got confused. We were lost.
Many people are lost today – not physically, but spiritually. We live in an age of great confusion about faith, God, and the afterlife. Some believe there is no God. Some believe there is no afterlife. Others claim all religions point to the same God – all religions lead to heaven. Some say, it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are a good and moral person. It is estimated that there are 4,000 different religions of the world. And many of them have several sects and factions.
So, if you are looking for direction, if you sometimes feel lost or overwhelmed in life, if you have ever felt confused about which way to go – this Sunday’s message at Grace Church is just for you! How do we find life? How do we find God? How do we live forever with God in heaven? To all the lost and confused, Jesus offers words of clarity and direction. “I AM the way, the truth, and the life,” says Jesus. “No one comes to the Father in heaven but through me.” What does it mean?
