Stayin’ Alive!

Do you remember the Bee Gee’s disco hit “Stayin’ Alive” from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack?  It was released in the late 70’s and I can still remember listening to it as a kid and secretly doing the disco dance moves when nobody was looking.  “Stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive, huh, huh, huh, huh, stayin aliiiiiiiiiiiiiive!”  Come on; just admit it:  You remember the song!  It does raise a good question:  Can anybody really ‘stay alive’?  Is there a way to avoid death’s grip on us?

From the beginning of time, people have searched for the magical “Fountain of Youth.”  People spend billions of dollars each year on health and beauty products.  We join gyms, go on special diets, take supplements, use lotions, potions and creams.  Some have cosmetic surgery.  Others have liposuction procedures and a little “nip and tuck” here and there.  But the fact is:  The death rate is still 100%.  All of us will one day die.  So is that it?  Is death the end?

Jesus had something to say about death.   And that is the topic we consider this Sunday morning at Grace Church as we examine another one of Jesus’ incredible claims about himself.  Is death truly the end?  What hope do those who’ve lost loved-ones really have?  Is there a power greater than that of death?  And what do belief and faith have to do with all this?  Join us Sunday to discover hope and healing for those who grieve, doubt, and find themselves in despair.

Worship begins at 10:00 AM with a service of both traditional and contemporary songs.  The message will inspire you.  The worship will uplift you.  The fellowship will warm your soul.  And the presence of God’s Spirit will heal you.  A nursery space and Children’s Church are offered for little ones.  And, a potluck will be had following worship for all.  Please bring a hot and/or cold dish to share, if you can.  Set your clocks one hour ahead, and see you Sunday.  Visitors expected!
