Skeptics & Believers

Not everyone believes in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  We live in a world of believers and skeptics.  Some say Jesus never did die; he simply passed out and “came to” on Easter morning.  Some believe it wasn’t really Jesus who died on the cross – that another man stepped in to “fake” Jesus’ death.  Some believe the disciples stole Jesus’ body from the tomb to make it seem Jesus’ arose.  Others say resurrection appearances were nothing more than hallucinations and hoaxes.

What do YOU believe?  That’s the question we pose this Sunday, April 7 as we examine “The Appendix” to Mark’s Gospel, chapter 16, verses 9-20.  Whereas these verses may not have been included in the earliest manuscripts of Mark, they are in the canon of Scripture.  What can we learn from them?  How do they accord with the rest of the testimony of the Bible, or not?  And, how does the theme of “believing in Jesus” play out in these verses.  Discover three reasons belief in Jesus is so important.

The celebration of Jesus from the dead continues at Grace Church this Sunday.  Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature the same biblical message entitled, “Why Believe?”, heartfelt worship, warm and welcoming friends, and the healing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  Nursery and Busy Bags are provided for children.  Refreshments will be served between services.  All are welcome.  Newcomers expected.

The Discovery Class for those considering membership at Grace Church or for youth wanting to make a profession of their faith in Jesus also begins this Sunday, meeting between services in the education wing from 10:05 to 10:35 AM.  It’s going to be another Spirit-filled weekend at Grace Church.  I trust you and your loved ones will be present.  Are you in need of revival and renewal?  Looking for a fresh start?  Join us this Sunday to experience Jesus’ resurrection power in your life!
