The Power of an Invitation
Have you ever been invited to something that changed your life? Maybe it was a special musical concert by a world-renown singer. Maybe it was an invitation to come work for a new business or employer. Maybe it was an invitation to marry the love of your life. Maybe it was an invitation to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord. Invitations have the potential and power to change lives for all eternity. No doubt, invitations extended and accepted have impacted your life also.
Christianity is invitational by nature. God invites Abram to leave his people and country to follow Him. God invites Noah to build an ark. God invites David to be a man after God’s own heart. Jesus invites twelve ordinary men to follow him; they end up changing the world. Jesus invites ordinary people to follow him still today. Grace Church exists because countless invitations were extended and accepted for people from all walks of life to come join our family. Perhaps you are one of them!
The question is: What invitation will you extend this weekend for someone to come join us at “Sunday in the Park”? How might your invitation to a family member, friend, neighbor, co-worker, classmate, or a total stranger make an eternal difference in their lives? You never know how God will use your loving invitation to change a person’s life profoundly this weekend. Your words, your passing out a flyer, your forwarding this email, your sharing a post, your outreach makes a difference!
So please prayerfully extend the invitations and plan to join us for our first “Sunday in the Park” worship and picnic outreach event of the summer this Sunday at Hope Martin Park of Waterloo! Worship begins at 10:00 AM with music led by our “Spirit of Grace” praise band. My message, “Eternal Eyes,” will help us all consider the beauty and mystery of eternity with God. If you ever feel down with the troubles of this world, this message is for you. You will be encouraged and your heart lifted!
A picnic for all with free food for our guests will follow the worship service. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided along with beverages, table service, and plenty of delicious side-dishes and desserts courtesy of Grace Church members. Members are reminded to please bring a hot and/or cold dish to share for our guests. Games for children of all ages, including face-painting and balloon art, will follow the picnic. Some games include prizes. All children are welcome to participate!
Hope Martin Park is located between Highway 63 and University Ave. on Fletcher Avenue. The park is fully handicapped accessible, including sidewalks, shelter and restrooms. Handicapped parking spaces will be designated along Fletcher Avenue. The park is beautiful and features plenty of shade as well as a playground for children. It’s a beautiful setting in which to worship God. All are invited. All are welcome. Please join us and bring a friend. Newcomers and guests expected!
