Where the King Lives

Many of you know that I spent two years in the early 90’s teaching English at the University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia.  It was a great experience and probably the most formative two years of my entire life.  But one of the unique things about Cambodia was that they had a king at the time, King Norodom Sihanouk.  He lived in the beautiful Royal Palace also in Phnom Penh.  It was a grand and fitting home for a king - ornate, spacious, luxurious, and plush.  Kings usually live in such places.

But this Sunday, we’ll take a look at the home King Jesus chooses.  It may surprise you to learn that King Jesus doesn’t live in an ornate royal palace, a sprawling mansion, a luxury suite, or even a White House.  King Jesus chooses to live in “jars of clay” – an expression the Apostle Paul uses to refer to our fragile, frail, and ordinary human bodies.  That’s right!  Jesus resides in failing, aging, and sometimes sinful “jars of clay” like you and me!  What does it mean?  How is this Good News?

Join us Sunday for our 10:00 AM Combined Worship Service as I share the message, “Jesus in a Jar,” based on our lectionary passage 2 Corinthians 4:1-12.  Our worship will be musically blended and uplifting, the message will touch your heart, the fellowship will be sweet, and the company warm and welcoming.  We’ll be blessed by the healing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst and also by your presence.  Nursery provided.  Refreshments to follow the service.  Please join us!
