The Softer Side of Jesus

Mark’s gospel is snappy and succinct.  He doesn’t go into much detail about the life of Christ.  His gospel is by far the shortest, just a little over half that written by Luke.  And Mark’s description of Jesus is also concise.  Mark depicts Jesus almost like a “spiritual Rambo” showing up on the scene to blow the forces of evil away.  Jesus is seen casting out demons, healing diseases, performing mighty miracles, and preaching moving sermons.  But does Jesus care for me?  Is Jesus concerned about my personal daily needs?

There are times when it seems God is so busy running the universe that it feels God has forgotten about our more personal concerns.  What about my chronic pain?  What about the cancer my family member deals with?  What about those who grieve deeply when death comes calling unexpectedly?  Does Jesus care about these things?  Does Jesus see my hurts and pains too?  Mark 5:21-43 answers those questions clearly.  Join us Sunday to learn three characteristics of the softer, more “human” side of Jesus.

Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature the same inspiring biblical message, heart-felt worship, warm friends, and the healing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  A nursery and Busy Bags are available for children.  Refreshments will be served between services for all in our Fellowship Hall.  It’s going to be another Spirit-filled morning at Grace Church.  And, I sincerely hope you and your loved ones will join us.  Please, bring a friend!
