When God is Silent
Has anybody ever given you the “silent treatment?” Whether it’s a spouse, a family member, a friend, or a co-worker – the silent treatment is no fun for anyone. But what about when God is silent? No, I don’t believe God gives us the “silent treatment.” But there are times in our lives when we find ourselves waiting for God to speak or act – only to be met with silence. What do we do when we cry out to God and He cannot be found? When we pray to God and He remains quiet?
If you’ve ever experienced the silence of God, this week’s message will be a blessing and encouragement to you. We’ve already considered waiting for God in surplus, suffering, and our sins. This Sunday, we’ll consider waiting for God in silence. What do we do when God is silent? What might God be ‘up to’ in these times when He feels distant and hidden? Join me as I share three helpful things to remember about God when we find ourselves, “Waiting for God in Silence.”
Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM. Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services feature the same message of encouragement, heart-lifting worship, warm friends, and the renewing power of the Holy Spirit in our midst. We’ll also light the fourth candle on our Advent wreath as the crescendo of light continues to brighten as Christmas approaches. It’s going to be a Spirit-filled morning of worship at Grace Church. I trust you and your loved ones will be present!
