A Fruitful Kingdom
We don’t use the term “kingdom” much today. When we think of a kingdom, we likely think of the United Kingdom of Europe, Marlin Perkin’s Wild Animal Kingdom, or the Magic Kingdom of Disney World. The concept of a kingdom ruled by a King is a bit foreign to us living in a democracy such as the United States. Yet, the Bible speaks of the Kingdom of God or Kingdom of Heaven often. It is foretold in the Old Testament, present today in Jesus Christ, and still to come in all its future fullness and glory.
A concept that is not often affiliated with the Kingdom of God, but of which the Bible speaks, is that of the Kingdom of God being likened to a vineyard. Israel was to be vineyard of refreshing to the nations. The Church of Jesus Christ is to bear fruit for Jesus, being a blessing to others. Jesus himself said, “I am the vine … remain in me … and you will bear much fruit.” The Good News is that the Kingdom of God is not a heavy-handed government, but a place of refreshing, renewal, sweetness, and blessing!
Who do you know who needs to refreshed in the sweet fruit of the Kingdom of God? Perhaps it’s a friend, a family member, a neighbor, a co-worker, or even you! Then, by all means invite this person to join us this Sunday, June 25 and plan to be present as we resume our study of the Gospel of Mark with my message, “Keepers of the Kingdom.” You will be comforted and challenged by three ‘Good News’ aspects to the Kingdom of God. What does it mean for us at Grace Church to be “keepers” of the Kingdom?
Our combined and musically blended worship begins at 10:00 AM. The service will include a biblical message, heart-felt worship, warm friends, and the healing power and presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst. A nursery space and Busy Bags are provided for children. There are no refreshments following the service, but feel free to linger and visit as long as you like. It’s going to be another Spirit-filled Sunday at Grace Church. Please join us and be refreshed by the sweet fruit of God’s Kingdom vineyard!
