A Mighty Seed
I love having grown up on a farm in southwest Michigan. My dad had a 40 acre farm which as a family we all helped with. We grew corn, oats, wheat, and hay. And, we had about 8 cows, 2 horses, a coop full of chickens and pigeons, a few ducks, and, of course, a dog and several cats. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. And I was always amazed at how those little seeds of grain planted at springtime would eventually grow and produce an entire field full of grain ripe for harvest. Those were mighty seeds!
Last Sunday we considered the Parable of the Sower with a focus on the activity of sowing the seeds and also the four soil or heart types. Turns out, Grace Church is involved in the “seedy business” of planting seeds of the gospel and God’s love in the hearts and lives of others. But this Sunday, we focus on the Parable of the Growing Seed with an emphasis on the seed itself. How is it that one tiny seed can sprout, grow, and produce a crop? And, what does this say about the power of the seed of the Word of God?
Join us this Sunday, March 13, as we discover three inspiring characteristics of the mighty seed of God’s Word! Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM and contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers; Busy Bags are available for children who remain in the sanctuary. Refreshments will be served between the services for all in the Fellowship Hall. And, please don’t forget to “spring ahead” and set your clock one hour forward before you go to bed Saturday night.
It’s going to be another Spirit-filled Sunday at Grace Church! And, I hope that you and your loved ones will plan now to attend. God is clearly on the move at Grace Church, renewing hearts and refreshing lives. Perhaps you need of some encouragement. Maybe you need a blessing. Maybe you’ve had a difficult week, or are feeling exhausted and frustrated. Maybe you’ve been drifting from God or church. Then please join your Grace Church family for uplifting worship and a message of hope just for you!
