A Motley Crew

How much do you know about the original twelve disciples of Jesus?  Can you name them?  Do you know anything about their lives, families, professions, or personal characteristics?  As believers we often refer to “the Twelve” but how much do we really know about these peculiar men as individuals?  It may surprise you to learn of their incredible differences and diversity.  Yet, Mark 3:13 says Jesus called “those he wanted.”  This motley crew was hand-picked especially by Jesus to change the world!

Thankfully, Jesus is still calling people of diversity to come be his disciples and make a difference in our world today too!  You might feel inadequate, unworthy, or unqualified to be a disciple of Jesus.  You don’t know your Bible very well.  Your prayer life isn’t that great.  Your faith wavers.  You have a sinful past.  You aren’t very spiritual.  Yet, Jesus says: “Come, follow me!”  The early disciples were unschooled, ordinary men with questionable backgrounds.  Yet, Jesus believed in them.  And, Jesus believes in you too!

Join us this Sunday, February 20, as I share an encouraging message entitled, “The Disciples Jesus Calls,” based on Mark 3:13-19.  In it, I’ll share four characteristics of the disciples whom Jesus calls, giving us all hope that we too can follow Jesus faithfully.  Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM and contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  A nursery is provided at the latter service.  And, refreshments for all will be served between services.  Please plan to join us, pray for the Holy Spirit’s presence, and reach out to bring a friend!
