A New Reality

Life in this world is not what it’s cracked up to be.  We long for satisfaction but find ourselves empty.  We long for peace and but find ourselves anxious.  We long for harmony but find ourselves at war.  We long for faith but live in fear.   Seems our heart’s deepest longings often remain unfulfilled.  Life in this world is broken.  Our world is fallen.  The Enemy has made a mess of things.  Sin has tainted everything, including our best relationships.  Is there any hope for us?

By the grace of God, the answer to that question is a resounding “Yes!”  The arrival of Jesus into this world of brokenness means we are not doomed to despair.  The light of Jesus is breaking in.   The power of sin and death is broken.  Forgiveness can be found.  Life on planet earth is being transformed.  New possibilities are emerging.  A new reality is taking shape.  The coming of Jesus at Christmas inaugurates the Kingdom of God and ushers in a host of new possibilities!

Join your friends at Grace Church this Sunday, December 1, as the season of Advent begins.  I am thrilled to begin a new sermon series based on Elisha – the Old Testament prophet and precursor to Jesus.  How does Elisha reveal Jesus to us?  What can we learn from these ancient stories?  How do these forgotten narratives give us hope and illuminate Jesus’ birth narrative.  If you’re feeling down, defeated, depleted, or depressed, join us Sunday for a fresh dose of hope!

Worship begins at 10:00 AM with a blend of traditional and contemporary music.  My message, “Seeing Beyond Scarcity,” will inspire.  Worship will be uplifting.  Friends will greet you.  And the healing presence of the Holy Spirit will touch you.  A Nursery and Children’s Church are provided for little ones.  Refreshments will be served following worship.  Men will gather for prayer.  And drama practice will take place at 12:00 noon.  Don’t miss God’s blessing for you this Sunday!
