A Worldwide Communion
This Sunday, October 6, is Worldwide Communion Sunday. With Christians all around the world, we will celebrate and commemorate the Last Supper of our Lord with his disciples. People from all nations, tribes, languages, and ethnicities will gather to remember and partake in this holy sacrament. Believers from Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, America and beyond will do what Jesus told us to do: Gather around the Lord’s Table to celebrate our unity in Jesus and with each other.
Tables are for fellowship. Tables are for unity. Tables are for eating. Eating together is an international symbol of friendship. It is good to be reminded that we belong to something much bigger than us. The Church of Jesus Christ is global and worldwide. It’s bigger than Grace Church, Waterloo. It’s bigger than our particular denomination. It’s bigger than the Church of North America. The Kingdom of God surpasses geo-political boundaries and man-made national borders. Praise God!
Join us this Sunday as we set our differences aside to celebrate the Lord’s Supper with Christians worldwide, to worship our great God, to experience friendship with one another, and to hear the Word of God proclaimed. We’ll continue our Hijacking Jesus series with a message articulating the dangers of Christian Nationalism. What is Christian Nationalism? How is it a threat to the gospel of Jesus Christ? Join us Sunday to find out and discover three dangers of this variation of Christianity.
The service begins at 10:00 AM. The message will encourage and challenge you spiritually. Worship will be lively and a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs. Warm friends will greet you. A nursery and children’s church will be provided for young children. Visitors are expected. All will be welcome. And refreshments will be served for all following the worship service. Forward this email. Invite your friends and family. Let’s pack the house to the glory of God!
