All Things
We have all had times in our lives when we questioned why something bad was happening to us. Maybe it was the sudden loss of a job. Maybe your spouse walked out on you. Maybe you were diagnosed with a serious illness. Maybe a loved one passed prematurely. Maybe you fell and sprained your ankle. Life is filled with pain, hardship, and heartache. Often these things “hit us” from out of the blue. And we wonder: Where is God in all of this? If God is good, why is this happening to me?
It’s easy to throw up our fists at God in moments of despair. In fact, some people curse God and stop believing because an unexpected tragedy affected their lives. Some people blame God for taking loved ones from them. But the Bible suggests a better way of dealing with heartache and hardship. The author of Hebrews urges us to accept heartache and hardship as discipline – discipline from God himself. How is this good? How does that help us? Why is God’s discipline good for us?
Join us Sunday morning as we continue our Going for Gold! sermon series with the message, “Submitting to Discipline.” Together, we’ll learn three reasons why God’s discipline in hardship is actually a good thing. And, we’ll consider five ways God uses pain in our lives to make us better. What Paul wrote in Romans 8:28 is indeed true: All things really do work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose! Discover how this Sunday. Come, be inspired!
