Celebrating Dad!

What a joy to recognize and celebrate fathers this coming Sunday, June 20!  Dads do so much for their families and churches, and are often under-appreciated.  But I’m also aware that not everyone has or had a good relationship with their dad.  Some dads were too harsh; some were too soft; some were absent.  Some dads might have even been destructive and hurtful.  Father’s Day can often stir a mix of emotions about one’s dad, and his or her relationship with dad – for better or worse.  Yet, there is a Dad who is always good.

Not only will we recognize dads on this Father’s Day Sunday; but we will also recognize and celebrate one Dad in particular – our heavenly Father.  Amazing to think that God invites us to call him “Father” and that He considers us His beloved children.  Yet, that is exactly who God is:  A perfect, loving Father who cares and provides for all His children!  Please join us Sunday as we consider five ways or things we can do to delight God our Father.  Using The Lord’s Prayer as our basis, this message will certainly inspire you!

Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM, and contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature a message from God’s Word, uplifting worship, warm friends, and the healing power of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  We will even have a “break the tape party” this Sunday as we take some time during our greetings to break and remove the blue social-distancing tape from the pews, allowing us to be near to each other once again!  A video of Sunday’s service will also be posted to our website later in the day.

We had a great “Sunday in the Park” last Sunday with approximately 125 people present and nearly 60 visitors total.  I anticipate another great Sunday this week as we return to two services and the comfort of our air-conditioned sanctuary.  May I challenge you to reach out again to those who you extended invitations to last week.  If you joined us last Sunday, please be encouraged to return again.  Let’s keep the momentum of God’s working among us moving forward.  Join me in praying for another Spirit-filled Sunday!
