Dem Dry Bones

Do you remember this fun song?  “The toe bone's connected to the foot bone, The foot bone's connected to the ankle bone, The ankle bone's connected to the leg bone, Now shake dem skeleton bones! The leg bone's connected to the knee bone, The knee bone's connected to the thigh bone  …”  The song goes on and on!  We often think of it as a goofy kids’ song.  But it’s actually a spiritual song written by James Weldon Johnson and his brother, J. Rosamond Johnson, based on a Bible passage from Ezekiel 37:1-14.

This Sunday is Halloween.  It’s a time when dry bones, skeletons, and skulls become prominent and on display once again.  Bones are a little spooky as they remind us of death and dying.  But could it be that “dem dry bones” could truly live again?!  What if God’s power really does resurrect the dead?  Perhaps Ezekiel’s vision really can come true?  If you have ever lost a loved one, you sometimes feel like a zombie on your feet, you are looking for hope, or you long for personal renewal, Sunday’s message is just for you!

Join us this Sunday, October 31 to discover three aspects of the life that God gives to His people through faith in Jesus Christ!  Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM and contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature the same biblical message, heart-felt worship, warm friends, and the renewing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  Nursery and “Busy Bags” are available for children.  Refreshments will be served between services.  Join us and find hope and new life at Grace Church this Sunday!
