Election Day is Coming!
This Tuesday is Election Day in America! People from all 50 states will head to the ballot box and cast their vote. I hope you will be one of them. Voting is both an American civic responsibility and a great privilege. What a blessing to live in a democracy where your voice can be heard and your vote counted! Wear your “I Voted” sticker proudly.
But let’s be honest: Along with election day comes anxiety. At the top of the ticket are two very different candidates for president. Supporters for Trump and supporters for Harris all have strong feelings about who is best to lead. We all believe deeply about who should and should not be our next president. Others may “write in” a different name for president. Some will vote for the “lesser of two evils.” But if national polls are correct, approximately half Americans will be deeply disappointed with the outcome.
So how should Christians approach the ballot box on Tuesday? Of course, I have my convictions and you have yours. It’s not my job to tell anyone who to vote for. Voting is a deeply personal matter and must be done according to conscience. As I often say, Christians are not ‘Elephants’ or ‘Donkeys.’ We are first and foremost ‘Sheep’ – followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. With this in mind, join us Sunday as I offer a pastoral word by highlighting four important things to remember this Tuesday and every day thereafter.
It’s going to be another Spirit-filled Sunday at Grace Church! So don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour Saturday night and please join us at 10:00 AM Sunday morning. The message will bring you peace. The worship will lift your spirit. The friends will warm your heart. And, the presence of the Holy Spirit will energize your being. A children’s church will be offered for youngsters. Refreshments will be provided following the service. And, drama practice will begin at 12:00 noon. Join us with your family and friends!
