Encountering Christ
What fun it is to meet important people! I still remember catching a glimpse of Willie Nelson while he was getting off his bus when he came to Grand Valley State College several years ago while I was a freshman there. I also remember seeing President Bill Clinton when he came to visit Waterloo some years ago. What important people have you met? Have you been able to “brush shoulders” with any major or minor celebrities? Did you get an autograph? Did you get a picture? Did you get a selfie?
This Sunday, I invite you to come and meet Jesus Christ, the risen Lord! Jesus told his early disciples he would meet them in Galilee. Galilee represents the place where you live, where you work – your home, your marriage, your relationships, your singleness, your ordinary life. Jesus is longing to meet you right where you live. Sunday’s message features three particular encounters Jesus had with biblical characters, plus four amazing things that happen “when Jesus appears” in our lives. You will be encouraged!
Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM. Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services will include the sharing of the sacrament of Holy Communion (through individually wrapped elements), a dramatic biblical message, heart-felt worship, warm friends, and the healing presence of Jesus in our midst. A nursery will be provided at the second service, and refreshments will be served between services in the Fellowship Hall. Please join us for this special Sunday and encounter the living Jesus for yourself!
