It’s Friday; but Sunday’s Coming!

It’s Friday; but Sunday’s Coming!

Today is Good Friday.  It is a day to remember and reflect upon the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ given for your salvation.  Of course, on that first Friday, no one knew for sure what was going to happen.  Jesus hadn’t yet been raised from the dead.  Many never thought he would be.  It was a dark day of despair.  The hopes of Jesus being the long-awaited Messiah and Savior were dashed.  Many tears were shed on Good Friday.  Jesus was pronounced dead.

As a world we are still living in the time of “Good Friday.”  Things are not as they should be.  The world is not right.  Death, despair, and darkness are all around us.  Grief and pain are realities of living in this broken, fallen world.  But thankfully, this is not the end of the story.  It may be Friday today, but Sunday is coming!  Death and darkness may cover the land today, but the dawn of Easter morning is on the horizon of our lives.  Jesus is about to be resurrected!

Does it feel like you are living in a perpetual “Good Friday?”  Are you looking for hope in the midst of this dark world?  The Good News we celebrate this Sunday (and every Sunday!) is that Jesus, our Savior and Lord, is alive and reigning today.  And, one day when he returns again, his reign and rule will be complete!  Even today believers can live in the peace and hope of Jesus resurrection power, asserting victory over sin, Satan, and death!

Join us Sunday as we celebrate the greatest event of all human history!  Our Traditional Easter Celebration begins at 9:00 AM and features a solo and some classic Easter hymns.  Our Contemporary Easter Celebration begins at 10:45 AM and features the lively music of our “Spirit of Grace” praise band.  Both services feature an inspiring message on “the resurrection of the body,” great music, warm friends, and the renewing power and presence of the Spirit in our midst!

Refreshments will be served between services in our Fellowship Hall.  An Easter Egg Hunt for children 10-years-of-age and younger will be held from 10:00-10:30 AM.  As we gather this Easter Sunday, all attendees are encouraged to wear masks and social distance.  Or visit the “Messages” page on this web site to watch the video later in the day.  How exciting to be celebrating Easter in person this year!  Please reach out and bring a friend.  Visitors and newcomers expected!

Together in Christ,

Pastor Dave Van Netten
