Jailbreak!
Do you remember this card from the game Monopoly? My siblings and I would sometimes play that game when I was little. It was a fun game and could last for days! I liked drawing this card as it was assurance that if I ever ended up in jail, I could get out and be set free. Of course, it’s never that easy in real life. I’ve never been in jail, but I know people who have. I’m sure that all prisoners and inmates wish they could simply present a “Get Out of Jail Free” card and be released!
While we may not be inmates or prisoners in the literal sense, the truth is: We’re all captive to something. It might be a health issue, chronic pain, fear of what others think of us, paranoia that something bad is going to happen, depression, a hobby, an addiction to a food, an eating disorder, a habitual sin, gambling, sex, the internet, your cell phone, social media, a relationship, drinking, drug use – or anything else that has become a compulsion in our lives. What are you addicted to? What holds you captive?
The Good News is that Jesus has come to set captives free! The Kingdom of God is breaking into this world and broken lives are being made whole again. This Sunday’s message is entitled “Setting Captives Free!” and will reveal three important things Jesus sets you free from. There’s going to be a ‘jail break’ this Sunday morning and God is inviting you to be a part of it! May God’s Spirit inspire, encourage, and teach you this Sunday as we gather in His name. Please forward this email and invite a friend!
Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM. Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services feature the same biblical message, heart-felt worship, warm friends, and the healing power of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Please be invited to wear a mask when in close proximity to others and social distance as you wish. A video of the service and message will be posted on our web site Sunday afternoon. Refreshments will be served between services. It’s time to ‘get out of jail’ and let Jesus set you free!
