What’s Beneath the Surface
Much of our lives are lived in public. People know us by how we look, what we say, and what we do when we are with them. Or at least, what we allow others to see of us. Yet, who we are in private is often what matters most. Underneath the surface of our lives lay a hidden trove of secret attitudes, actions, and even addictions. People see just the tip of the iceberg; but it was what was underneath that sank the Titanic. So it is with our lives: The private, personal dimension often determines our course.
As we continue our series When Kingdoms Collide this Sunday, January 30, we will explore the secret life of Jesus. What did he do behind the scenes? Who was he when no one was looking? In fact, we will discover – much to the chagrin of many people – that Jesus had an inner life that was not always interested in meeting the demands of the people. The social pressures on Jesus were mounting, but he surprises us by making a counter-cultural move to spend time with his Father and take a “time-out” from the masses.
This is a message you will not want to miss! Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM while our contemporary worship service begins at 10:45 AM. Busy Bags for children are provided at both services and an attended nursery is offered at the second service. Refreshments for all will be served between services in our Fellowship Hall. And, a video of the second service will be posted by mid-afternoon. Both services feature the same biblical message, lively worship, warm friends, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Would you and your loved ones join us this Sunday? Perhaps you’ve been missing from worship for a time. Perhaps you’ve gotten busy with other things. Perhaps you’ve let your walk with God slide. If so, I encourage you to let this be the Sunday to get back on track with God and the church. We’ve missed you and God has missed seeing you at His house on Sundays. Please join us and consider reaching out to bring a family member or friend. Feel free to forward this email and invite them. See you Sunday!
