Jesus Speaks on Marriage & Divorce
There’s an old saying: “Single people want to be married and married people want to be single.” I suppose there’s some truth to that, but hopefully that’s not always the case. Still, the divorce rate today is quite alarming. In 1914, the divorce rate in America was 1%. At the end of 2022, the divorce rate in America was 44.2%. In the “old days” you could have been kicked out of church and prohibited from taking communion for being divorced. Now days, divorce is much more common and acceptable.
Despite cultural and national trends, Jesus has some interesting things to say about divorce and marriage. Have you ever wondered if divorce is ever okay? How does God see your particular situation? What do you do if your marriage is “on the rocks” or even abusive? Is it too late for your marriage? Is marriage even “a thing” in today’s world anymore? What about singles? How will Jesus’ words apply to us? These questions and more will be the topic of a most interesting sermon this Sunday at Grace Church!
Based on Mark 10:1-12, Jesus’ words will inspire and challenge us all – singles, couples, marrieds, and divorced. Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM. Contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services feature the same biblical message, the sharing of Holy Communion by individually wrapped elements, lively worship, warm friends, and the healing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Prepare your heart and plan to join us for a Sunday you will not want to miss. Visitors expected!
