Looking in the Mirror

Most of us take a look in the mirror when we get up in the morning.  We want to examine ourselves and see how we look.  What aspects of our face might need a little “fixing” before we venture out into the public?  Ironically, the Bible compares looking into a mirror to examining our lives for sin.  James 1:23-24 says: “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”

This Sunday’s message (July 9, 2023) is not for the faint of heart.  As we continue our journey through the book of Mark, Jesus is inviting us to “look in the mirror” and correct the sin in our lives.  In his encounter with the Sadducees, Jesus exposes three of their worst and saddest sins.  You might be surprised to discover what they are.  You might even find that you are guilty of one or two or even all three of these Sadducee sins!  This Sunday is an invitation to look in the mirror, reflect, repent, and find renewal in Jesus.

We’ll meet at 10:00 AM for a musically blended service of worship with some toe-tapping, bluegrass-style hymns and singing led by guitars.  The worship will be heart-felt and real.  The message will be inspiring and encouraging.  The friendship will be overflowing with warm smiles, handshakes, and hugs.  A Nursery and Busy Bags are available for children.  It’s going to a great Spirit-filled Sunday at Grace Church.  Plan now to join us with your family and friends.  Consider it an appointment with God!
