Peace in the Storm
Ever feel anxious, nervous, or worried by world events? Ever feel troubled by what’s going on around you? Do you sometimes feel that you are sinking in stress? It’s difficult to not let the chaos of our culture creep into our hearts. Yet, even as Jesus and his disciples were caught in a storm that threatened their lives, Jesus remains calm & peacefully asleep in the boat. That’s the kind of peace I need! Wouldn’t it be great to have a calm in the chaos? Wouldn’t it be great to have peace in the midst of the storms of life?
If you are ever overtaken by fear, worry, or stress, please join us this Sunday, June 11, at Hope Martin Park, Waterloo for our first community-wide worship service and picnic event of the summer! Not only will we enjoy worship in the most beautiful sanctuary ever created – the great out-of-doors – but we’ll also discover five ways to find peace in the storms of life, and calm in the chaos. Worship begins at 10:00 AM. “Spirit of Grace” will lead the music. And, I’ll bring an inspiring, evangelical message, “Calm in Chaos.”
Dress is casual and you will want to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Following worship we’ll enjoy a picnic cookout with hamburgers and hotdogs served hot off the grill, plenty of side dishes and desserts, and cold beverages. Members of Grace Church will provide the food for all our guests. Hope Martin Park has a beautiful new shelter, clean restrooms, playground equipment for children, and is fully handicap accessible. After the picnic, children will be able to enjoy games with prizes, face-painting, and balloon art.
It’s going to be a great day and the rain is expected to clear by early morning. Make plans now to join us for this special event in the life of Grace Church. And please bring a friend, family member, co-worker, classmate, neighbor, or even a stranger to join you! Forward this message and/or print and distribute the attached flyers on our Events page of this web site. Remember to invite, intercede, initiate, include, and interact. Let’s make this the best “Sunday in the Park” ever. May God’s grace, favor, peace, presence, power, and healing be upon us all!
