Weathering the Storms
Life is filled with storms. Some storms include rain, high winds, hail, and maybe even tornadoes. Other storms include the loss of a job, the break-up of a relationship, divorce, cancer, illness, financial debt, a difficult child, addiction, a family issue, depression, or the loss of a loved one. Although we all prefer clear skies, life in this broken, fallen world is never sunny for very long. Even Jesus said, “In this world, you will have trouble” (John 16:33). What storm (or storms) are you currently going through?
This Sunday, April 3, as we continue our study of the Gospel of Mark, we come across the story of Jesus calming the storm in Mark 4:35-41. A furious squall had come up while the disciples and Jesus were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. The winds were against them, the waves were high, and water was lapping into the boat. They thought they were doomed. That is, everyone except the peaceful, sleeping Jesus. Why was Jesus able to remain calm? How is the story resolved? How can we also find peace in the storms?
To find out, please join us Sunday morning at the service of your choice! I will share three important things you need to know that will give you peace in the midst of the storms of your life. Traditional worship begins at 9:00 AM and contemporary worship begins at 10:45 AM. Both services feature the same inspiring message, lively worship, warm friends, and the renewing presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst. A nursery is provided for little ones. Refreshments will be available between the services for all.
Are you in need of encouragement? Has life gotten you down? Are you going through a “storm” of your own? Have you been drifting away from God and church? Then, this is the perfect Sunday for you to find your way back to God and back to your new life of hope and blessing in Jesus Christ. God is alive and working in powerful ways through Grace Church. I invite you to return to God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Join us along with the entire family and bring a friend. Come, be renewed and healed in Jesus!
